About Kota Beach, Bantayan

Kota Beach is one of the most iconic beaches on Bantayan Island, known for its powdery white sand, shallow turquoise waters, and distinctive curved sandbar that changes with the tides. Located along the Santa Fe coastline, the beach offers a beautiful tropical setting for swimming, wading, beach walks, photography, and simply relaxing by the sea. Its wide shoreline and calm waters make it especially appealing to families and travelers looking for an easygoing beach escape. Facing east, Kota Beach is also one of Bantayan's best spots for watching the sunrise.

What to expect

Kota is the postcard beach of Bantayan — powdery white sand, shallow turquoise water, and a curved sandbar off the Santa Fe shore that shifts shape with the tide. The water is calm and stays shin-deep a long way out, which makes it easy for families and unfussy for casual swimmers. It faces east, so this is one of the island's best places for sunrise, and at low tide the sandbar and the pale shallows stretch far enough out to walk. It is a relaxed, do-nothing beach rather than a watersports one.

Editorial review

Hands down one of the best beaches I’ve visited in Cebu! The sandbar is absolutely gorgeous, and the white sand is so fine and clean.

Know before you go

The public beach has no entrance fee; the adjoining resort charges separately for its facilities. The sandbar looks its best in the dry months, roughly December to May, when the tidal range and the turquoise colour are strongest — check a tide table if the sandbar is the main reason you are coming, and aim for low tide. Getting here from Cebu City is about 4.5 to 5 hours including the Hagnaya–Santa Fe ferry, so plan to stay overnight on Bantayan rather than rush it as a day trip.
