About Maravilla Beach

Maravilla Beach is a laid-back coastal destination in Tabuelan, North Cebu, known for its long shoreline, light-colored sand, clear turquoise water, and beautiful sunset views. Its wide and shallow swimming area makes it suitable for casual swimming, wading, beach walks, and relaxing by the sea. The beach also has a more local and rustic atmosphere than many of Cebu's commercial beach destinations, making it popular with day-trippers, families, campers, and motorcycle riders exploring North Cebu.

What to expect

Maravilla in Tabuelan is the one people mean when they call somewhere a "little Boracay" — a long run of pale, fine sand and clear turquoise water, with a wide, shallow swimming area that is easy for families and casual swimmers. It has kept a rustic, local feel rather than turning into a commercial resort strip, so it draws day-trippers, campers and riders working their way up the west coast. Late afternoon is the pick, both for cooler air and for the sunset the beach is known for. Weekdays are quiet; weekends fill up with campers and groups.

Editorial review

This is one of our stops during our Cebu North Loop road trip! Since it’s a public beach, it can get a bit crowded at times, but it’s still a fantastic spot to take a breather and enjoy the coast.

Know before you go

The public beach itself has no entrance fee and you can camp for free — pack out what you bring in, as facilities are minimal. Some private entry points and resorts along the same stretch charge a small fee. It is roughly a 2.5-to-3-hour drive north-west from Cebu City, or a bus from the North Bus Terminal toward Tabuelan, getting off at the public market and taking a short habal-habal to the beach for a small fare. Bring water, food and shade if you plan to stay the day.
