Cebu South Bus Terminal to Oslob, Simala & Santander: East Coast Buses

The east coast road runs south from Carcar through Sibonga, Argao and Dalaguete to Oslob and on to Santander. Buses marked Bato via Oslob run the whole road, so Simala, Osmeña Peak and the whale sharks are all on one bus, and the conductor sets you down where you ask.

Private cars with a driver, shared vans (V-hire) and Grab cover the same road. Prices are negotiated and depend on the vehicle, the distance and the season, so ask for a quote before you commit — unlike a bus, there is no fixed fare.
Simala Shrine, in Sibonga
Simala Shrine is in Lindogon, in Sibonga, the first town after Carcar on the east coast road. Buses marked Sibonga (Simala-Lindogon) stop at the church, and the longer lines to Oslob and Santander pass through Sibonga too — tell the conductor Simala and confirm where to get off.

Dalaguete and Osmeña Peak
Dalaguete is the town to get off in for Osmeña Peak. From there a habal-habal climbs inland toward Mantalongon; agree the fare and the wait before you go.
Oslob and the whale sharks
For the whale sharks tell the conductor Tan-awan, not Oslob town: it is a stop on the highway a few kilometres south of the town. Viewing runs in the morning and the briefing queue closes before midday, which is why people leave the terminal before dawn; the earliest buses leave in the small hours.
Staying a night in Oslob or Santander and walking to the briefing in the morning is the unhurried option.
Coming back
Every bus on this road runs back to the South Bus Terminal; flag northbound buses at the highway. Services thin out in the evening, so do not plan on a late return.
If you fly out the same day, allow for the terminal to airport leg too — airport to Cebu City and back covers it.
