About Moalboal Beach — Basdako

Basdako, also known as White Beach, is one of Moalboal's most popular stretches of sand, offering a beautiful coastline with clear blue water, soft white sand, and a relaxed tropical atmosphere. It is ideal for swimming, sunbathing, beach walks, and watching the sunset. For underwater adventures, visitors can head to nearby Basdiot, where Moalboal's famous sardine run, sea turtles, coral reefs, and diving sites are located.

What to expect

Basdako — White Beach — is the swimming-and-sunset side of Moalboal: over a kilometre of soft white sand backed by coconut palms on the Saavedra peninsula, facing west across the Tañon Strait toward Negros for one of the best sunsets in the south. It is the counterpoint to Panagsama, which is a rocky dive base rather than a beach. It is a straightforward beach day — swim, walk, sunset, a drink at one of the shorefront places — and an easy short hop from the dive village if you are staying there.

Editorial review

The coastline here is lovely, making it one of our ultimate go-to beach spots down south. Since it's a public beach, it can definitely get a bit packed at times, but we keep coming back! Best of all, you can basically just show up and jump in the water with zero planning required.

Know before you go

Entry to White Beach is a token fee of roughly ₱10–20 per person, plus a small parking fee if you drive. From Panagsama it is about a 15-minute tricycle ride (roughly ₱150–200 for the trip) or a short drive north. The dry season, December to May, gives the clearest water and calmest sea; late afternoon into sunset is the time to be here. For the sardine run and turtles, go to Panagsama/Basdiot instead — this is the sandy-swim beach.
